A disability day programme has been organized to commemorate the International Disability Day on the 3rd &4th December 2010, linkage with the Saviya Athwela programme, with the thematic approach of livelihood development and the socio-economic security of the handicapped population.
- Expand the vocational training & IT Training for youth, employment and on the job training for handicapped children between 15 - 35 yrs.
- Set up a special education unit for the mentally deficient children.
- Educational centre for the handicapped children based on early childhood development.
- Exhibition by the handicapped children on the 4th Dec. 2010, at the Sangamitta College, Galle displaying their skills.
- Mobile bio- medical clinic to treat physical and mental ailments / impairment.
- Establish 02 educational centres based on information technology.
- Facilitate infrastructure and services, for 100 selected families, to enhance the socio- economic status, through community based activity.
- Provide library facilities to 3 disabled rehabilitation centres.
- A trade fare, on the 4th Dec. 2010 for the sale of the products of the handicapped youth.
- Distribution of wheel chairs and crutches among 100 handicapped persons.
- 03 clinics to present aids/ equipment to persons with hearing and vision defects.
- Cultural show on 4.12.2010 organized by the Athwela cultural society.
- 4 awareness building programmes on access for all.
- Interschool competitions for the non- disabled children, at national level.
- Various social Welfare Service programme on the World Disability Day.
- Special educational competition for the disabled children.
